Election Guidelines

Dear Nominee:
Thank you for your commitment to improving our union.
The following rules are in effect for all elections. Failure to follow the election rules will result in the Election Committee reporting infractions to the Executive Board for review which may lead to the disqualification of a candidate. 
1. The Vice President or designee(s) shall preside over all elections, designate roles and responsibilities and seek volunteers to assist. 
2. All questions concerning elections shall be directed to the Vice President and/or designee(s).
3.  A separate page on the bocesta.net website will be dedicated to the following election postings:.
  • You may submit a picture and a biography to be posted on this page. The Bio must be representative of oneself and approximately 100 words.
  • You may submit election poster type material for posting on the website.
  • You may submit a video for posting on the website. (maximum: 1 GB and 3 minutes in length unless personal link provided)
  • You may choose to provide personal contact information for members to ask you questions (personal email and personal phone number) 
4.  You may contact BTA members via their personal email or phone number as long as it was not obtained via union business.
5. The BTA will schedule a "Meet the Candidates"  (February 9, 2021, 7:00-8:15 p.m.) and attendance is voluntary.
6.  You may hang or distribute posters in faculty rooms, designated BTA bulletin space or at events or locations outside of BOCES owned or leased facilities.
7. candidates will not remove or encourage the removal of other candidates material. If a concern arises please contact the Vice President or designee(s). 
8. Election committee members will not share or disseminate communications related to polling or election day assignments. 
9. All guidelines are subject to change and will be posted under the election tab on the BTA website.

10. If a candidate decides to withdraw it must be done so in writing to the vice president or designee(s) before the sample ballot is posted.

Thank you in advance for your adherence to these rules. Compliance by all nominees and committee members is important if we are to run a fair and equitable election. Any questions can be emailed to election@bocesta.net

Please return all nominating ballots to Eileen McGarvey via email (vicepresident@bocesta.net) or via PONY to Irvington High School. All nominating ballots MUST be received by Friday, October 2, 2020 in order for the candidate to be placed on the voting ballot.

​Every effort will be made to hold in-person elections the week of November 2, 2020, over multiple days and utilizing as many sites as practical. In the interest of safety, everyone must vote at their own site.
