Fellow BTA Member,

This past Wednesday, more than fifty BTA members attended the meeting to discuss and vote on a successor agreement to the 2007-12 Teachers Contract. The Memorandum of Agreement and APPR Summary Document were approved by a vote of forty-five (45) in favor; no one (0) not in favor; six (6) abstentions. The passage of the Memorandum of Agreement and APPR Side Letter will now be brought before the SWBOCES Board at their next meeting in February.

My thanks to everyone in attendance and those who reached out via e-mail and telephone calls. Needless to say these are difficult and challenging times. There is so much to consider as we move forward with the next negotiation, pending the Board's approval of the MOA and APPR Side Letter. Your input will be sought in the near future.

This is a reminder that in lieu of the next regularly scheduled general membership meeting we will  hold a meeting for members of the teachers bargaining unit – occupational therapists; physical therapists; resource specialists; school media library specialists; school counselors; school psychologists; school social workers; teachers; teacher assistants - to vote on  the ratification of a successor agreement to the 2007-12 contract.

Weather permitting, the meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 22nd beginning at 4:00pm in the Rye Lake Campus Gymnasium. We urge everyone to be in attendance.

 We will discuss the agreement (attached in the e-mail last week) at the meeting. Please do not enter into a dialogue regarding the MOA and  APPR Summary Document on the BOCES e-mail server.
